Michael S. Gerber is a writer in Bethesda, Maryland, whose work has appeared in The Washington Post and Bethesda Magazine. He is also a member of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad, where he has volunteered since 2002, and a paramedic with the Alexandria Fire Department. He graduated from Yale University in 2001 with a degree in History of Science and History of Medicine. At Yale, he wrote for a student magazine, The New Journal, and participated in the Habitat Bicycle Challenge. He is originally from Toledo, Ohio, but has visited 46 states.
